Envy Gaming Enters Super Smash Bros. with Signing of Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallett
21-year-old is a top 10 ranked Smash player and the first-ever pro Smash player for Envy
Envy Gaming is entering the competitive Super Smash Bros. scene for the first time with the signing of Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallet. Ranked as one of the top 10 Smash players in the world by MPGR 2018, the 21-year-old Florida native will compete and stream for Dallas-based esports organization Envy.
Wizzrobe, who also goes by the nickname “Wizzy”, is considered by many to be the best Captain Falcon player in the world and is renowned for his versatility and top-level performance across every game in the Smash series. His reputation as a champion has steadily grown since his first appearance at Apex 2013 where he placed second in Project M, which he continued to play competitively through 2015 before retiring to focus on Smash. During his career, Wizzrobe has earned multiple championship victories in Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
“Wizzrobe is the perfect match for Envy: he brings a big personality and record of competing at the highest level that we’re excited to further,” said Mike Rufail, owner and CEO at Envy Gaming. “We’ve been in awe of the fanbase that has developed around Smash for many years and waited for the right player to bring Envy into the scene. We can’t wait to watch Wizzrobe compete.”
Since the release of the original Super Smash Bros. in 1999, the fighting game series has grown to include five titles and an enthusiastic global fanbase. When the game’s latest version, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, launched in December 2018, Smash quickly became best-selling game of the month and a top five selling game of the year, according to data from NPD.
Smash fans can follow Wizzrobe on Twitter @Wizzrobe, subscribe to his YouTube channel or watch his streams on Twitch at twitch.tv/wizzrobe. His first competition as a member of Envy will be at CEO 2019 in Daytona Beach.
