Team Envy Returns to Competitive Counter-Strike, Signs North America CS:GO Roster

Envy CS:GO to debut in ESL Pro League Season 8

DALLAS (September 24, 2018) – Team Envy, one of the most-winning organizations in the history of competitive Counter-Strike, announced a return to CS:GO competition, acquiring the 12th and final spot in the North America regional of ESL Pro League CS:GO Season 8. Dallas-based Team Envy signed professional players Taylor “Drone” Johnson, Josh “jdm64” Marzano, Noah “Nifty” Francis, Steven “reltuC” Cutler and Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen to their roster.

“We’re excited to bring a talented roster of Counter-Strike players together to write the next chapter in Envy CS:GO history,” said Mike Rufail, owner and CEO at Envy Gaming, the esports organization that operates Team Envy. “Our priority was to sign a roster that would compete at the highest level and give our loyal fans a team to cheer on.”

Team Envy entered the Counter-Strike scene in 2015, signing a European roster that would quickly became one of the most dominant esports teams in the world. Envy’s legacy includes 10 international titles from many of the biggest Counter-Strike tournaments in the world, including the Valve Major at DreamHack Cluj-Napoca. Envy released its European roster earlier this summer.

The new Envy CS:GO North America roster features experienced players and coaches from the United States and Canada. Team Envy will be coached by Zachary “Eley” Stauffer and analyst, Taylor “tailored” Broomall. Eley and tailored, as well as players Drone, relutC and SEMPHIS, all join Envy after previously competing for Splyce. Nifty joins Team Envy from Renegades; jdm64 most recently played with Team Liquid.
